My original tweet about it : https://twitter.com/interstar/status/1428779662180851712

Expanded :

Here's my take on @leashless's "World Computer".

A🧵

1) Money and markets scale incredibly well. So spectacularly that people who don't know anything about each other, don't necessarily agree, or even like each other, are co-ordinated to work together towards collective actions https://t.co/3FVfNzFBjC

2) Unfortunately, this scaling outpaces any human or institutional capacity to reflect upon, analyse, or correct problems due to that collective action.

Politics, law, analysis, morality, all fail to curb excesses of markets because they don't scale as well as markets do.

3) This is why we face the apparently insoluble problems we face. Human "intelligence" can't keep up with market stupidity.

The only solution then, has to be that we bake intelligence back into money.

This is the radical, world-changing promise of blockchains & smart contracts

4) Money goes everywhere and touches everything.

The only way that wise human reflection and morality and law and policy can keep up with money's speed and reach, is if they hitch a ride on it.

As part of the same coins and contracts that flow through the market.

5) That's how we can account ALL the good and ALL the bad that money instigates as it sloshes around the world.

And how we can formulate and enforce appropriate responses.

6) Dumb money is killing us.

And only money that's smart enough to know what it's doing, and honest enough to tell us about it, can stop this.

7) My tweet about mashing up "world computer" with @worrydream's work?

Well, Bret is now the standard bearer for "humane computing". The need to make computers comfortable and intelligible to the human.

That goes for the world computer too.

8) We need the blockchain / smart money people to think about usability, visualizations, humane-izing the UI of the world computer.

And we need the humane tools people to grok @leashless's vision and accept this greatest challenge of all : understanding the global economy.

9) Plus all you personal knowledge management, note-taking, digital gardeners, Roam Cultist, Future of Codeing tweeps.

We need you to think how your tools can talk blockchain.

Because that's where more of the world's most important knowledge is going to be in future.
