The best networks are stupid. They try to remain as nutral as possible to avoid interfering with communications between the edges. It's at the edges and in the communication that value is created; not in filtering or adding value to the network.

OTOH weren't people talking not so long about about how the internet backbone had a huge overcapacity because all the companies had invested in big pipes, and now they couldn't figure out how to move users to broadband to actually get the use of it?
