At the beginning of the 2000s I was strongly against MicroPayments.
But over time, we've seen CommonsBasedPeerProduction / TheAgeOfAmateurs "free" internet enclosed by and dominated by advertising funded SocialMedia who are now the source of many problems. TheProblemWithFacebook
So is it time to return to various kinds of content payment / micropayment scheme?
Increasingly some journalists I like are turning to SubStack and NewsLetters over email to sell subscriptions to their own work. Patreon seems to be succeeding to support many YouTubers. But these people need to be very successful and have a lot of attention to also make patronage work for them.
Is it time for an economy based on micropayments for everyone? (This is something JaronLanier has advocated forever. (MonetiseTheWeb))
