ClimateJustice

Context : GreenPolitics, OnRhetoric

Sadly, I think "climate justice" is one of the worst, most counter-productive pieces of rhetoric in human history.

Before the invention of the term "climate justice", ClimateChange was seen as affecting all humans equally. We were all in the same boat. Rich or poor would suffer the devastation together. And slowly the rich world was starting to adapt.

And then "climate justice" came on the scene and people started shouting about how the poor, brown people were going to suffer far more of the ill effects than the rich white people.

And immediately, the rich white people switched from trying to figure out how to solve it, to trying to figure out how to preserve their privilege relataive to the poor brown people. The climate went from being seen as an issue of self-interest to yet another issue where those nefarious do-gooders were trying to make us feel guilty and take our stuff away to give to someone else.
