JoelSpolsky points out that many BloggingTools and ToolsForThought, note-takers, ToolsForDigitalGardeners etc. are working with the concept of a "block".

And thinks there should be a protocol to share blocks between apps.

In CardiganBay we have "cards". Which in some ways are similar to blocks. They have types etc.
