Branding takes the natural human relationship (appreciation / gratitude / admiration) you should have with the maker of the things you use, and reassigns it to an abstract sign / LoveMark which is owned by the capitalist.

Graphic design is worse. Using photography of people to detach the bodily relationship you might have with people and assign that to the brand. (See also SocietyOfTheSpectacle.)
