I guess if you combine RDIF (or similar short-range networking) with TheAgeOfAccess (which suggests everything will be rented anyway) you get this kind of scenario : pick up stuff at a local connection point. Stuff only works properly when it detects a local personal-payment-server, such as you might have in your watch. This automatically times and charges (and enables payment of) rental for the use of the stuff. Imagine you get your TV free but pay by the minute?
