Interesting perspective from the libertarian Escape Artist. On the one hand they're internationalist Americans. OTOH they're often confused carpet-baggers. The typical escape artist seems to value charming unspoiled natural resources and culture, while sneering at the socialist and protectionist governments that preserved them that way. He celebrates the new liberalism that opens these resources up to him as a rich American, but doesn't imagine that these new freedoms will destroy the paradise with an influx of American exploitation and crap.

The escape artist is either deeply naive or deeply selfish.
