KenArnold suggests that language should specify style down to the last space character and where your brackets occur
I disagree with demanding layout standards generally because I think they constrain your environment too much eg. the right line-length and way to break up code might depend on whether you are on a large screen desktop or a small screen laptop. Whether you prefer to split your Emacs window vertically or horizontally. Etc. etc.
Nevertheless, an interesting argument.
