The US invests about 25% of GDP "socially" (on infrastructure etc.) and it's not enough. To solve social problems, to continue to extend life-expectancy and give everyone a good life. (Instead quality of life is falling)
OTOH, bits of Europe are investing about 50% on these things, and it's enough. It's working.
Problem is, the US sets the global pattern.
But presumably if you could get the world up to European levels (around 50% of GDP) that would solve most of our issues. (ClimateChange etc.)
