False rape accusations out of revenge or malice are extremely rare.
Far rarer than the popular mythology.
When they occur, the main source of false rape accusations is teenagers who willingly have sex with their boyfriends, and then, when confronted by angry fathers, change the story to say they were coerced.
Two different studies have found that almost half of all false rape complaints are lodged by someone other than the alleged victim, usually a parent.
In other words, patriarchy is the cause of about half of false accusations.
The rest tend to be made by people who have a pattern of compulsive lying and history of mental illness. But again this is extremely rare.
Though sometimes, of course, it's just a good old fashioned political smear campaign.
