Yet another startup-city failure :

The problem is that libertarian minded startup cities want something from the rest of the country / society. They think they can have it on a transactional basis. But most people don't like transactionally, they want to know that others have a stake in society as a whole. The startup-city people are usually rich foreigners who come for the land and labour but precisely DON'T want to be bound by the democratic or cultural constraints that already exist.

(This of course is the basis of capitalism. It wants to exploit but not be beholden to the commons or pre-transactional economy - OnCapitalism)
