• Artist as orchestrator of something in the world.

Argument :

• with the demise of material specificity or the official gallery as demarcator of art (ie. painting, clay, marble) we must look to practice as the defining idea of art.
• if so, what is it to develop ProgrammerPractice?
  • use of linguistic / grammatical thinking?

Artists :

• self-directed
• material oriented
• semantically uncommitted (ie. LateBinding of meaning to art works)
• playful
• has practice rather than discipline

Programmer as Maker

• learning by doing** start original and get good?** contrast start good and get original (scientist)

Institution

• challenge of getting accepted into gallery
• is the gallery basically a market (commodity)
