PrioritizeTheBestCustomer

My frequent flier points program recently raised my status, giving me the possibility of upgrading to first class on one flight. IT makes it cheap and easy to identify your better customers and prioritise them. Even giving them extra-perks proportional to how "good" they are as customers.

But this is a deeply inegalitarian force. It rewards success and early adoption and penalizes failure and late-comers.

When we think about BernardLietaer's model of ComplementaryCurrencies, Smiles and other forms of CorporateScrip are part of that mix. And they're one form of CC that's definitely happening. But given that they are often based on prioritizing the best customers, they are likely to lead to a further social fragmentation.
