A static document is another landmark for people to refer to and visit.

A static document is a pause in the relentless movement through the net. You can print it and read it offline to get away from the screen. This has the excellent benefit of no further links. When you hit a static document you must turn and retrace your steps. It interupts the nausia of hurtling forward like a runaway train.
