Not much more to be added here. It's a viable moral position but it leaves little room for debate.

Except to point out inconsistencies in someone who says they hold it but then makes exceptions (eg. UK during second world war.)

Actually Hilan points out that there are two sorts of Pacifism. Both believe that war is NEVER justifiable. However one assumes this as a moral intuition. These are the pacifists you can respect, but not argue with. The other concludes war is never justifiable by inference from some other foundantional intuitions. You can therefore discuss whether these inferences are sound or not.
