The long-story short : humans adopted agriculture multiple times. Why? But more curiously, why not earlier?

AndreaMatranga ties it to MilankovitchCycles which created a more intense seasonal variance. Seasonal variance locks nomads into a cycle of visiting the same places locked to the season and creates incentives to store food.

Once there's a regular locked cycle of movement between fixed places and storage, then adding more planting, plant care and eventual sedentary life is a smoother gradient.
