Any reasearch on markets which aggregate information from markets?

Any reason they should be different from ordinary markets?

Or rather, because markets are not necessarily buyers and sellers in a meta-market, the aggregation isn't really a market-like algorithm. So what's a good way of aggregating a bunch of prices from various markets? Must be another market where traders buy stuff in the local markets and sell them elsewhere ... arbitrage.
