If we can make things more locally we can

• a) reduce transport costs (including the expensive infrastructure)

• b) stimulate the local economy (compare LocalCurrency)

• c) encourage the use of local "vernacular" materials (which also means less transport of materials, deeper local knowledge, less mass disruption through MonoCulture production of materials in mass (IsMassNatural))
