One thing we tech people need to be more proactive with is helping folk understand that a "decentralised" platform does not imply, lest of all require, a blockchain, and that there are many successful examples of this.
Google has degraded. But the bigger issue is that so much stuff is in silos, and those silos never had decent search. In a better world, social platforms would advance the art of searching / filtering "rivers of notifications" way beyond Google's feeble search model. But no 🙄

The challenge is to sufficiently decouple the games rich people play with money from the economy the rest of us have to live in. Wall Street / stock markets are 90% speculative casinos. But what happens in them doesn't stay there; it spins out and hurts everyone else. \1
