When I taught undergrad programmers, I used to emphasize the importance of UnitTests.

And I'd talk about the write-a-test, write-the-code-to-pass-it cycle as a kind of rhythm or dance.

It was important to get into this rhythm as part of your flow.

I'm not sure I totally believe or succeed in this most of the time. But there are moments I definitely do.
