It's really hard to write good function (and to a lesser extent variable) names in portuguese. The big problem is that verbs and adjectives have to agree with the gender of nouns.

So something like Iterator.next() should sometimes be Iterator.proxima() and other times Iterator.proximo() depending on the gender you associate with the thing being pulled out. A fluent portuguese speaker is likely to use the wrong one fifty percent of the time.

Of course, this really a problem of portuguese and similar languages that verbs and nouns are too tightly coupled :-)

Maybe create two versions of the function?
