People sometimes talk, flippantly, that you should be working to eliminate your job. But what if companies took this seriously as a goal?

What if they rewarded job destruction rather than punishing it?

What if your employer said to you. Come work for us in this role. Now, if you can find a way to eliminate (either through automation or some other technique; though not, of course, simply OutSourcing or pushing it onto someone else) your job entirely, we'll continue to pay you to do nothing for the following five years.?
