Documentation is important.

However, many people simply suppose that good documentation equals clear, methodically layed out, complete, and in exhaustive detail. All of which are meant to add up to readability.

If this was true in general, legal documents, which are also methodical and specified in exhaustive detail would be notoriously readable; whereas journalism, which is ideosyncratic, biased and based on rhetoric and stylistic distortions would be the last resort of those who are seeking to know about the world.
