Better to make the world strongly connected than worry about what technology connects.

Sure, but is that an easier problem as Graham seems to suggest? I'd say that one cause of the kind of TechnoOptimism of someone like OliSharpe (eg. AnotherIndustrialRevolution) is due to the perception that technology is easier to manipulate than sociolgy. Hence, if we think wiring the world will help, maybe the best we can do is fix that and let people get on with solving their other issue.

Graham seems to be starting from the other perspective. Perhaps we can take advantage of what we know about social networks in order to make good interventions with technology.
