CulturalInfluenceForInternalAndExternalConsumption
ThoughtStorms Wiki
Culture follows economic dominance. And I've been thinking about Brazil vs. Jamaica.
Jamaica seems better able to transform the musical influences of the US into something noticably Jamaican. Whereas Brazil, despite having very strong musical culture and traditions of its own, seems to adopt, consume and imitate US music.
One thing I'm wondering is who the music is for. Any country has four potential audiences :
- local audience for external music (the importers looking overseas)
- local audience for local music (the live folk traditions of the country)
- foreign audience for external music (other cultures you wish to invade with soundalikes)
- foreign audience for local music (other cultures who wish to buy your heritage)
