What if we're getting more "plausible" conspiracy theories ... that make sense to smart people ... because these are the kinds that thrive in the NooSphere?
Each generation of a conspiracy theory adds more actual facts, more plausible details for a smart person to get bogged down in, a more coherent world view. It adds epicycles to epicycles to make better predictions (though without deep inner simplicity or coherence)?
The internet would be a perfect breeding ground. A fierce competition of memes?
Except ... SurvivabilityDoesNotEqualTruth.
Just because these become more compelling and widespread doesn't imply they get more true.
