In the 2000s I was getting into a lot of "trashy" Brazilian popular music Axe, Pagode, BaileFunk, TecnoBrega ... much to the horror of my friends who found these musics appallingly simplistic and in bad taste.

The lyrics are pretty trashy. But I always think music like that has a lot of "vitality" and energy. And really that's the root of all interesting music.

Now, though, the situation is a bit reversed. I'm rather tired of them all ... funk is sometimes interesting, but there's a lot of boring mainstream stuff. But a lot of people I know love it ...
