AccidentalLinking

ThoughtStorms Wiki

I don't like the term "accidental linking" but I like the effect. It's due mainly to targets having ConcretePageNames rather than abstract eg numeric IDs

The distinction between individual words, WikiWords and longer phrases is less important.

Yes a bias towards shorter terms means accidental hits are more likely but it works even for longer phrases as long as the right phrase is predictable.

But concrete-ness is the key thing.

If I link to a potential / future ChocolateCake page, there's nothing accidental about it. I fully intend to link to a ChocolateCake page. It's just that I don't need one to currently be there or to track it down.

It's weird to call something I do deliberately an "accident".

That's prioritising the machine's perspective over the user's.
